Sadovaia-Samotechnaia Street is located between Likhov Lane and Samotechnaia Square and is part of the Garden Ring. The second part of the name comes from the former Samotechny Pond, as well as being a continuation of Sadovaia-Karertnaya Street. The street was built around 1816-1820, and an area of the street was home to the estates of the princes Volkonsky, Shcherbatov, and other Moscow aristocrats. In the second half of the 19th the street was built with stone apartment buildings. In 1938, the street was widened and reconstructed.
