KOROVYI VAL STREET
Street in the Zamoskvorechye District of the Central Administrative Okrug of Moscow
Korovyi Val Street extends from Serpukhovskaya Square to Kaluzhskaya Square. Korovyi translates to “Cow”, referencing the cow markets located by the Serpukhovskaya gates. 1952-1990, Korovyi Val was named Dobryninskaya Street, due to its proximity to Dobryninskaya Square. In the 1960s, the street was reconstructed with Zhitnaya Street (opposite Korovyi Val in the Garden Ring). The buildings in the middle of the Garden Ring were destroyed, and now there are no more houses with odd numbers on Zhitnaya Street, and no houses with even numbers on Korovyi Val Street
