THEATER METRO STATION

Located on the Zamoskvoretskaia Line

The station is located in the Tverskoy District of the Central Administrative District of Moscow, and was named after Teatralnaia Square.  The Theater Station was opened on September 11th, 1938, as part of the Sverdlova Square – Sokol section. The station is a deep-level, pylon three-vaulted with one island platform. It is also the last work of the architect Ivan Fomin and is an identified cultural heritage site. In 1990, Sverdlov Square was given back its historical name, Teatralnaya Square, and the metro station was renamed “Teatralnaya.”
