SMOLENSK METRO STATION

Located on the Arbatsko-Pokrovskaia line. 

The station is located in the Arbat District under Smolenskaya Square (from which it got its name). It was opened on April 5, 1953, as part of the Revolution Square- Kievskaia Section. The architects are I.E. Rozhin and G.P. Yakovlev, and the station is a deep-level pylon three-vaulted station with one island platform. The station was the first to have turnstiles at the entrance and the lobby replaced in August 2010. The station’s design is dedicated to the military-historical theme.
