R.S.F.S.R. HOUSE OF SOVIETS

The House of the Government of the Russian Federation is an administrative building in Moscow on the Krasnopresnenskaia Embankment.  The House was built in 1972-1981, under design of architect, Dmitry Chechulin. The total area of ​​the building was 732 thousand m² , and the total area of ​​office space was 132 thousand m² . A complex three-level system of underground floors was constructed in the building, where a parking lot, a bunker, ventilation chambers and refrigeration equipment were located. During the August 1991 putsch, the building became the center of resistance to the State Committee for the State Emergency. The structure was later heavily damaged during the political conflict in 1993, and was reconstructed.
