SMOLENSK EMBANKMENT

Located on the left bank of the Moscow River

Smolensk Embankment is in the Arbat District between Smolenskaia Street and Svobodynoy Rossiya Square. The embankment’s name comes from the latter street and is a continuation of Rostovskaia Embankment. The embankment begins at Borodinsky Bridge, continues through Smolenski Metro Bridge, and ends at Novoarbatski Bridge. The project for the development of Smolenskaya Embankment was developed in 1955 by architects Boris Barkhin, Vladimir Lerman, and Nikolai Gaigarov.
