HOTEL “UKRAINA”
Architects: Arkady Mordvinov and Vyacheslav Oltarzhevsky.
1953 – 1957
The last of the skyscrapers to be erected, Hotel Ukraina now serves as one of Moscow’s most luxurious commercial hotels. The building was originally to be named for the suburb of Moscow in which it lay, but was changed by the government to pay homage to the 300th anniversary of Ukraine being transferred as a territory to the Russian Empire. The structure spreads across three blocks, with the central tower built 34 floors high. In 2007, the hotel went under private ownership, and in 2019 became part of the Radisson, and named the “Radisson Royal Hotel Moscow.”
